About This Section
Welcome to Crain’s 3rd annual Giving Guide, a special advertising supplement that explores the fundamental relationships between Chicago-area nonprofits and the companies that help to support them.
The Giving Guide, created as a reference tool, provides Crain’s readers with pertinent information they need to become more actively involved within Chicago’s nonprofit community – either individually or on behalf of their company. The guide also offers nonprofits the opportunity to highlight their organization and its impact in the marketplace. Participating nonprofits provide their mission statement, goals, events and volunteering opportunities, annual revenues, managing executives and board of directors, and more.
Local writer Jane Adler has been providing the upfront editorial features since our inaugural issue. This year, Jane shares ways in which Chicago’s corporate community continues to reach further to give back to Chicago’s nonprofit community.
In Jane’s lead story, “Local Exec Provide Trusted Talent Pool for Nonprofit Boards” Jane shares the importance and impact a strong, well connected and engaged board members can provide to a nonprofit.
In “Giving Rebounds as Companies Fine-Tune Strategies”, Jane examines how many companies today are also focusing on how they can tie their products and services to the causes they give back, leveraging their workforces skills and time to help nonprofits operate more effectively.
Jane also discusses with local executives the “vetting” process that is done prior to committing to a particular charity and how education based programs play an important role in a companies support.
We hope Crain’s Giving Guide will help to inspire you or your company to become more actively involved. A small gift of giving goes a long way for those who are in need.
