About This Section
Welcome to Crain’s 4th annual Giving Guide, a special advertising supplement that explores the fundamental relationships between Chicago-area nonprofits and the companies that help to support them.
Created as a reference tool, the Giving Guide provides readers with pertinent information they need to become more actively involved within Chicago’s nonprofit community – either individually or on behalf of their company. The guide offers nonprofits the opportunity to highlight their organization while sharing the impact they have in the marketplace. Participating nonprofits provide their mission statement, goals, events and volunteering opportunities, annual revenues, managing executives and board of directors, and more.
We are pleased to have local writer Jane Adler back with us again this year. Jane has been providing the upfront editorial features for the Giving Guide since its inaugural issue. This year, Jane continues to look at the links that tie together Chicago’s corporate and nonprofit communities. In Jane’s lead story, “Cause Marketing Creates Win-Win for Business and Charity” Jane shares how cause marketing campaigns can take on a variety of forms, offering benefits for both the nonprofit and its corporate partner.
In “Creative Programs Leverage Impact of Charitable Giving”, Jane looks at how business’ both small and large often sidestep traditional fundraising and instead devise creative internal programs to help the local community.
Jane also discusses with local executives the many benefits corporate giving yields. While business leaders understand philanthropy is its own reward…it also can play an important role in advancing corporate goals. Jane highlights this her story “Corporate Giving Yields Many Benefits”. We hope this year’s Giving Guide will help to inspire you or your company to become more actively involved. A small gift of giving goes a long way for those who are in need.
