Medical group plans $16.5 million office building in Glenview

The Northbrook-based American College of Chest Physicians says it bought 5.25 acres of land in Glenview for a new headquarters and innovation and learning center. The proposed two-story, 45,000-square-foot building at 2501 Patriot Blvd. in the Prairie Glen Corporate Campus will cost an estimated $16.5 million to build. The village of Glenview has agreed to provide $835,000 in incentives to help finance infrastructure work on the property, according to a news release from the village and specialty medical society. The group plans to break ground in the fall and move its 90 employees from its current headquarters at 3300 Dundee Road starting in October 2013.

Bulls may open gym near United Center

The Chicago Bulls are considering moving their practice facility from Deerfield to a location near the United Center on the West Side, according to a Chicago Tribune story published over the weekend. Michael Reinsdorf, the team’s president and CEO, told the Tribune the Bulls could leave the Berto Center in the north suburb and said the team has discussed the idea of relocating near the arena with Mayor Rahm Emanuel. The news comes less than a month after Crain’s reported that the United Center’s owners were considering a $75 million to $85 million retail addition to the arena, home to the Bulls and the NHL’s Blackhawks. Ruttenberg family buys West Loop building

A trust owned by the Ruttenberg family in late April bought an empty, three-story building at 1217-1219 W. Monroe St., confirms David “Buzz” Ruttenberg, founder of Chicago-based Belgravia Group Ltd. The building cost $800,500, county records show. Geoffrey Ruttenberg, developer and youth sports instructor, plans to open an athletic training facility in the first two floors of the building and rent out the top level. The floors are about 6,000 square feet with ceiling heights in the 12- to 15-foot range, making the building ideal for adult and youth sports, fitness and performance instruction, says Geoffrey Ruttenberg, David Ruttenberg’s son. Eventually, all three floors could be converted into condominiums, he says.
