Residential: Justice's son | North Shore listing | Blair exec buys

High court justice's son makes Edgewater buy

The son of U.S. Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg paid $900,000 for an Edgewater community area row house, property records show. James Ginsburg closed last month on the 4,000-square-foot property on Magnolia Avenue, part of the Lakewood Balmoral Historic District, which is on the National Register of Historic Places. The seller, Oscar Meek Jr., who has moved to California, listed the six-bedroom home, originally built in 1905, in April for $925,000. Mr. Ginsburg is also president of Chicago-based Cedille Records, a classical music label he launched in 1989.

Former Nuveen president lists North Shore home

The former president of Nuveen Investments Inc. is asking $7.25 million for his lakefront home on 1.1 acres in Winnetka. Mark Anson put the 17-room property up for sale after leaving the Chicago-based investment firm in April to become managing partner and chief investment officer of Menlo Park, Calif.-based Oak Hill Investment Management L.P. The house, which was rebuilt five years ago, is on Whitebridge Hill Road and has six bedrooms, a solarium, an indoor swimming pool and a private beach. Property records show Mr. Anson paid $6.4 million in October 2007. Blanche Romey of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage has the listing.

Blair executive buys Winnetka home

A principal at William Blair & Co. paid $2.35 million for a Nantucket-style home on Ash Street in Winnetka, about two miles away from Mr. Anson's house on the lake. Douglas Mabie of Chicago-based Blair paid about 4% less than the asking price of $2.45 million. The sale of the 4,969-square-foot house closed last month, property records show. Built in 1996, the home has six bedrooms, five full baths and an outdoor hot tub. The seller was Scott Rosen, a Glenview-based ophthalmologist and eye surgeon, who bought a six-bedroom home in January on Hackberry Lane in Winnetka, about two miles east of the Ash Street residence. Mr. Mabie didn't return a message. Dr. Rosen was traveling and could not be reached.
