In brief: Continental Towers renewal | Suburban HQ move | Industrial sale

Insurance firm extends at Continental Towers

Insurance broker Associated Agencies Inc. extended its lease for 23,682 square feet until 2019 at Continental Towers in northwest suburban Rolling Meadows. The agency had an early termination option on its previous lease, which gave it the option to restructure the agreement, says commercial real estate firm Transwestern, which represented both the tenant and the building owner, Prime Group Realty Trust. As part of the new deal, Associated received money to renovate its space, expansion options and rights to put a sign on the building at 1701 Golf Road, Transwestern says.

Moss Inc., which makes trade show and retail displays, has leased a 105,000-square-foot building in Elk Grove Village, which will be its new headquarters and where it will consolidate production operations from two facilities in Lincolnwood. Moss also is moving about 50 manufacturing jobs to the facility from Belfast, Maine, according to a company official. The building at 2600 Elmhurst Road in northwest suburban Elk Grove Village approximately doubles the space Moss had at the two Lincolnwood sites, says Marat Safir, president of Northbrook-based Taurus Realty Partners, which represented Moss. Lee & Associates represented the Australian landlord, Mirvac Industrial Trust.

Direct-mail firm buys Niles building

Specialty Print Communications bought a 72,580-square-foot building in north suburban Niles for $3.35 million. The direct-mail company will use the building at 6250 W. Howard St. for a direct-mail assembly operation, says Christopher T. Volkert, a senior vice-president with Colliers Bennett & Kahnweiler Inc. who represented Specialty Print. The new location is a few blocks from the company's office at 6019 W. Howard. The seller of the 6250 building was Woodward Governor, which moved the operations in the building to other facilities, says Steve Trapp, senior director-industrial brokerage with Cushman & Wakefield Inc. who represented the Fort Collins, Colo.-based company. The deal closed last month.

Veterans clinic moving to North Aurora

A U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs outpatient clinic in Aurora is moving about two miles to the office building at 161 S. Lincolnway, North Aurora, where the clinic will triple its size to 9,975 square feet. The VA plans to move around Oct. 1 from its current location at 1700 N. Landmark Road in Aurora, says Stephanie Glaser of Vertical Brokerage Inc., which represented the landlord, a St. Charles-based investment group. Ms. Glaser's firm also is marketing the three-story building for sale, with an asking price of $4.5 million. It will now be about 38% occupied.
