In brief: Law firm moves | Grubb & Ellis promotions | Bedford Park
Law firm moves to 161 N. Clark
Coghlan Kukanos LLC cut its space almost in half in moving to 161 N. Clark St. The small firm has a five-year lease for 7,240 square feet, down from about 13,000 square feet at 55 W. Wacker Drive, says Patrick Caruso, president of L. J. Sheridan & Co., which represented the firm. Coghlan Kukanos originally moved into 55 W. Wacker on a sublease and didn't need all the space, Mr. Caruso says. The firm was in that building about 10 years, he says. Joseph Gordon of owner Tishman Speyer Properties represented the building.
Two eateries sign suburban leases
Persian restaurant Edith's Place recently leased 6,777 square feet at the Mt. Prospect Plaza and plans to open early next month, according to Mid-America Asset Management Inc., which handles leasing for the 299,300-square-foot center in northwest suburban Mt. Prospect. Separately, Einstein Noah Restaurant Group leased 2,250 square feet at Plaza Del Prado in north suburban Glenview, where the company plans to open an Einstein Bros. in the fall. Einstein was represented by Oakbrook Terrace-based Mid-America Real Estate Corp., a related company to Mid-America Asset Management, which represented the landlord.
Grubb & Ellis promotes eight brokers
Eight local Grubb & Ellis Co. brokers were promoted to executive vice-president from senior vice-president, including three who joined the company within the last year. Paul Lundstedt and John Gavin, who specialize in office building sales, joined Grubb's capital markets team in February and were among those promoted. The other recent hire promoted was Jim Kerrigan, a former Staubach broker who joined Grubb in September to head the company's data center practice. The others promoted were Vineet Sahgal, Jay Stewart, Sven Sykes, Tom Tunnicliff and Tom Volini.
Distribution firm adds 3rd Bedford Park building
Arlington Heights-based Nexus Distribution Corp. leased a 306,552-square-foot warehouse in Bedford Park, bringing its total space in the southwest suburb to about 1 million square feet. The company now leases 6510 W. 73rd St. along with 6558 W. 73rd and 6220 W. 73rd. Nexus says the new lease gives the company exclusive use of the Chicago Land Bridge, a private roadway built in March 2006 that can handle containers weighing more than what is permitted on public roads. Nexus will use most of the space at 6510 W. 73rd for client Corn Products International. Oakbrook Terrace-based NAI Hiffman represented the landlord, Australia-based Mirvac Industrial Trust, in the new lease and in a lease extension and rental concession at 6558 W. 73rd. Lee & Associates represented Nexus in the transactions.
