Koenig & Strey team switches to Jameson Realty

(Crain's) — A high-profile team of residential brokers is jumping from Koenig & Strey GMAC Real Estate to rival Jameson Realty Group as part of deal by Jameson founders Charles and Harry Huzenis to sell a stake in their North Side firm, sources close to the situation say.

Christopher Feurer and Michael Sato, top producers in Koenig's Lincoln Park office, lead a 47-person team called CRF Marketing, according to CRF's Web site. How many of those employees will make the move to Jameson could not be determined. Mr. Feurer, who is president of CRF Marketing, has also worked on residential real estate development in recent years.

Updated story: Huzenis brothers cede control in new firm

In a statement, Chuck Goro, a senior vice-president with Wilmette-based Koenig and branch executive of the company's Lincoln Park operation, confirmed that Messrs. Feurer and Sato were leaving the company.

"We count them among our other successful alumni in the real estate industry who have chosen to follow an entrepreneurial path in partnering or owning their own real estate companies," Mr. Goro said. "Highly motivated agents like Chris and Mike come to Koenig & Strey GMAC because of our strength in this market and our complete support of their individual progress."

The statement did not disclose where Messrs. Feurer and Sato are headed, but sources have previously said they plan to join Jameson, which the Huzenis brothers founded in 1982. In addition to the brokerage business, Charles Huzenis, who is president, and Harry Huzenis, who is an executive vice-president, are well-established developers, whose current projects include the 50 E. Chestnut, a high-end Gold Coast condominium project.

The exact nature of sale of the stake in Jameson could not be determined, although a formal announcement is expected either later Thursday or Friday morning. Charles Huzenis and a spokesman for Messrs. Feurer and Sato have previously declined comment.
